What We Do

At Still Standing, our mission is to empower individuals within the disabled community to lead more active lives by providing access to adaptive equipment. We firmly believe everyone deserves the chance to engage in sports and physical activities -- regardless of their financial circumstances. Through strategic partnerships with organizations, event hosting, and merchandise sales, we diligently manage fundraising efforts to ensure essential resources are accessible. Our commitment extends beyond equipment provision; we offer delivery, in-home setup, virtual training sessions, and regular check-ins to provide a tailored fit and ongoing support. By breaking down barriers and fostering inclusivity, we aim to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities, promote physical well-being, instill confidence, and facilitate social engagement.

Our Beginnings

Why did we start the Still Standing Foundation?

At Still Standing, our inspiration stems from the personal journey of our dear friend, Norbert Holowat. On July 5, 2019, Norb experienced a life-altering spinal cord injury (SCI) while diving headfirst into a pool, resulting in a quadriplegic condition with fractures in his C6 and C7 vertebrae. Throughout his hospitalization, rehabilitation, and personal workouts, Norb tenaciously worked to regain strength and push his boundaries. Just over a year later, he conquered his first marathon among many—an extraordinary testament to the possibilities beyond SCI.

Motivated by Norb's indomitable spirit, and originally co-founded by him, our foundation aims to support those who face similar challenges. We strive to provide a steady path for individuals with disabilities to embrace an active life—tailored to their unique circumstances—and discover solace amidst their struggles. Through our provision of adaptive equipment and dedicated support, we empower individuals to overcome whatever obstacles they can, fortifying their resilience as they continue to stand strong.
